Passion begins here.

Individual Scholarships

The Hatch Community Youth Fund’s Youth Scholarships are awarded to year-round pre-school to high school age resident youth from Brooksville, Castine, & Penobscot to help underwrite participation in a variety of athletic and recreational activities through the seasons. They are awarded on a rolling basis—submit an application at any time!

Submission of financial documentation including tax forms is not required at any step in the HCYF scholarship application process.

Equity

In order to ensure access, mitigate financial hardship in our communities, and meet the demands of a growing number of applicants each year, awards may be limited per child.

Families and friends who share our vision are invited to help us close the gap to access and inspire youth and lifetime health and well-being in our communities with a commensurate tax deductible donation.

Application Process & General Instructions

Applicants and their parents, guardians or counselors are strongly encouraged to work together to complete the appropriate application form below and to begin this process with a conversation. Discuss interests and options, time, transportation, and your family’s capacity for personal and financial commitment.

  1. FInd a program you wish to participate in or select one you have already committed to! If you are searching for ideas, check out the programs list with many of the activities HCYF scholarship recipients have participated in over the years and talk with friends!

  2. Please submit one application per activity per child.

  3. Please note that the application form asks you to provide the HCYF’s program committee with an idea of your activity planning and budgeting through the seasons in a calendar year.

  4. The Hatch Community Youth Fund partners with two popular local organizations through our program grants: Castine Golf Club (golf, tennis & sailing) and Castine Kayak Adventures Kids Kayak Camps! Applicants seeking awards to help underwrite participation in these programs should first register for the program on their respective websites and then return here to complete a HCYF scholarship form below tailored to accompany the selected organization’s registration process.

  5. At the end of each season of activity, scholarship recipients will be asked to complete and submit a brief report and feedback form (a link will be sent to the email address on the application), an upload tool to share photos or original artwork (all are very much welcome). This is an essential component of the experience not only for our purposes as an organization that seeks to make an impact in our communities but also for yours.

  6. Last but not least, the HCYF scholarships are supported by the generosity of our donors and with each year select foundations, all eager to spark local health and wellness initiatives and support community members most in need.

Thank you for helping us get to know you & serve our communities!
